Minnesota Twins Team Report - April 16th

(Sports Network) - Jacque Jones' two-run single capped a four- run sixth inning, as the Minnesota Twins downed the Detroit Tigers, 6-4, at the Metrodome.

Cristian Guzman, Torii Hunter and Matt LeCroy each had two hits and an RBI for the Twins, who have won 13 straight over the Tigers and four in a row overall.

Kyle Lohse (2-1) earned the victory after allowing four runs -- two earned -- in 6 1/3 innings. He yielded just three hits while striking out eight and walking two. Eddie Guardado pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the year.

Jones is 17-for-45 this season and is on a nine-game hitting streak. He has a .347 batting average, which is the best out all the Twins starters.

Rick Reed will work from the mound today. Reed is 0-2 on the season in two starts, with an ERA of 4.50. In his last outing, Reed recorded the loss to the Yankees, throwing only four innings, allowing two runs on six hits.

This will be Reed's first start against the Tigers this season. In his career against the Tigers, Reed is 2-1 in six starts with an ERA of 3.09. Reed has registered 24 strikeouts in 32 innings of duty against the Tigers.
