From The Sports Network

(Sports Network) - The Mariners look to make it five-straight wins when they face the Oakland Athletics in the second of a four-game series at Safeco Field.

John Olerud knocked in the go-ahead run with a double in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the M's past the A's on Tuesday.

Edgar Martinez added three hits and two RBI for the Mariners, who extended their winning streak to four games.

Arthur Rhodes (1-0) earned the victory by throwing 1 1/3 innings of perfect baseball. Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched a perfect ninth and picked up two strikeouts to earn his third save of the season. Seattle's Ryan Franklin tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs.

Seattle will send Freddy Garcia to the hill tonight. Garcia has lost two of his first three starts of the season, including a defeat to Texas last week. The 26-year-old Venezuelan was roughed up by the Rangers, allowing seven hits and four runs over five innings. Garcia struck out four and walked one in the losing effort.

Garcia has split 10 decisions in his career against Oakland, while posting a 6.33 ERA. The staff ace has allowed 86 hits and 56 runs over 79 2/3 innings against the A's.

Seattle owns a slight 3-2 advantage in the 2003 series between these clubs. The Mariners are 13-8 at Safeco Field against Oakland since the start of the 2001 campaign.
