Seattle Mariners Team Report - April 18th

From The Sports Network

(Sports Network) - The AL West-leading Seattle Mariners, who have won five of their last six games, will attempt to keep their hot play going this evening, when they begin a three-game set against the Anaheim Angels on the road.

Yesterday, Mark McLemore atoned for a ninth-inning error with a game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th to lift the Mariners to a 4-3 win over the Athletics.

Dan Wilson drove in two runs for the Mariners, who took three of four games in the series with Oakland. Jeff Nelson (2-0) picked up the victory after throwing a perfect 10th inning.

Seattle will pin its hopes on veteran lefthander Jamie Moyer this evening. Moyer has not lost in his last two starts, including a no-decision against Texas on Sunday. The 40-year-old surrendered six hits and two runs over five innings, while fanning six and walking two in the game.

Moyer has been decent against the Angels in his career, posting a 12-8 record with a 5.04 ERA. The Pennsylvania native picked up his only win of the young season against Anaheim, holding it to just four hits over seven frames on April 8.

The Mariners are 6-0 in day games this season and 4-0 in one-run games this season.

Seattle has hit 11 homers as a team thus far while surrendering 24 to opponents.
