Oakland's Mecir activated from DL

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Oakland Athletics pitcher Jim Mecir was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.

Mecir, who had offseason surgery to repair a tendon in his left knee, made just two appearances with Triple-A Sacramento.

In a related move, pitcher Micah Bowie was designated for assignment to make room for Mecir. Bowie struggled this season, going 0-1 with a 9.00 earned run average. He permitted six runs on 11 hits over six innings.

Oakland has 10 days to trade Bowie, assign him outright to the minors or place him on waivers.
