Cleveland Indians Team Report - April 28

(Sports Network) - Terrence Long's two-out double in the bottom of the ninth inning scored Erubiel Durazo from first base to lift the Oakland Athletics to a 4-3 win over the Cleveland Indians on Sunday.

Jody Gerut went 3-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored for the Indians, who have dropped six in a row. Danys Baez (0-3) suffered the loss. He threw just two-thirds of an inning and permitted the winning run.

C.C. Sabathia started for the Indians and lasted seven innings. He permitted three runs -- two earned -- on six hits while striking out five and walking two.

The Indians got some good news on Sunday, as starter Jason Bere pitched a simulated game and reported no problems after hurling 40 pitches. Cleveland has the day off today and will resume play on Tuesday.

Omar Vizquel went 1-for-4 on Sunday and is just one stolen base short of moving into second place on Cleveland's career list. With the stolen base Vizquel will move ahead of Terry Turner's 254 swipes, while still trailing the team's all-time leader Kenny Lofton, who has 450 stolen bases as an Indian.

Ricardo Rodriguez will take the mound for the Indians on Tuesday and will try to take the first game of a three-game set with the Angels.

Rodriguez (2-1) suffered his first setback of the season the last time he took to the mound. The righthander yielded four runs and five hits over seven innings.

He will be making his first career start and appearance against Anaheim, while trying to improve on his ERA of just 2.73 this season.
