Oakland Athletics Team Report - May 2

(Sports Network) - Former Yankee Ted Lilly will take the hill tonight for the Athletics, as Oakland and New York begin a three-game set at Yankee Stadium.

Lilly, who was traded by the Yankees last July in the three-team deal that landed Jeff Weaver in the Bronx, was 8-12 in his time with the Yankees and pitched to a 4.61 ERA.

The 27-year-old southpaw is 2-0 this season with a 3.03 ERA and is coming off a win in his last outing. After three straight no-decisions, Lilly limited the Cleveland Indians to two runs on six hits over 7 2/3 innings in a 5-2 win on Friday.

Lilly, who has struck out 24 and walked just eight in 32 2/3 innings this season, will be making his first appearance against his former team.

Oakland, which is tied for the AL West lead with the Seattle Mariners, comes into the contest on the heels of having its season-high six-game winning streak stopped on Thursday by the Chicago White Sox, 7-5. Miguel Tejada and Eric Chavez homered for the A's, who fell for just the third time in their last 12 games.

John Halama (1-2) took the loss, allowing six runs -- four earned -- on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings.

Tejada, the reigning AL MVP, hit his first homer in more than a week and is just 8-for-61 in his last 15 games, as he has seen his average dip to .164.
